River Shishged
River Shishged

Shishged and Tengis
Shishged and Tengis watershed national park remains as one of the last trophy taimen refuges. Protected solely by true remoteness of northern Mongolia’s Khuvsgul Province, local taimen population can thrive in pristine nature conditions like aeons ago. Shishged and Tengis are mighty Yenisei river headwaters – the world’s fifth longest river system and the largest river system draining into the Arctic Ocean. While they have many side streams, the Tengis and Shishged are quite unique and home to some of the world’s largest taimen. Our fishing grounds are accessible only by raft boats, horses or reindeer.

The Camp
Reaching our campsite is an adventure in itself, offering a true opportunity to experience Mongolia on your own terms. The off-road journey takes you through several local villages, across numerous rivers and streams, and includes horseback riding and rafting, all set against spectacular landscapes that resemble postcard scenes at every turn. Despite the extremes and remoteness of northern Mongolia, the local people stand in stark contrast—hospitable, gentle, and kind, despite their warrior roots.

More than just the fishing
You will have the chance to experience this ancient culture firsthand. Yes, the fishing during high season is incredible, but it’s not just the fishing that will make you want to return. It’s the opportunity to reconnect with your primal hunter instincts, to be “offline,” and to distance yourself from the problems of the modern world that will draw you back like a magnet. Few have ever ventured to this place, and those who have will never forget it. We travel extensively around the world, but this place is by far our favorite. You will never feel as alive and as far removed from the world as you will here.

“Travel doesn’t become the adventure until you leave yourself behind”
