Come prepared!
As a sportfish, the taimen is super-exciting because of its aggressiveness; its violent attacks and because noisy surface flies such as – for instance – Gurglers will often trigger an immediate response. And once hooked, the taimen will often burst the surface in a series of fiery-tempered and acrobatic jumps before doing its best to cut the line on big boulders, rocks and sunken trees.
If you already fish for Hucho hucho in Central Europe, you can bring most of the tackle you already have. However, for Taimen, we strongly recommend a #12 single-handed rod or a double-handed rod in the range of #8 to #10. There are several options to choose from, and we will assist you in making the right choice. Single-handed rods are best suited for fishing surface patterns, while double-handers are a good choice for streamer fishing. We will send you a detailed packing list with all the information you need regarding your gear. Additionally, we provide guidance on every item you might need, including clothing, fishing tackle, and other equipment.
